This is, in my view, a good deal more readable than the C code, and the intent is quite visible: take read-only slices of all the arrays, allocate one (1) new array of the same length in Python's heap, take a mutable slice of that new array, and then run our dumb-as-rocks allocation loop, with the actual math being done entirely on the stack, with some SIMD on top of that!
